So long summer, you were swell. I'm so ready for sweaters, hot cider, cranberry chutney, and double the quilts on our bed.

It really feels like Tim and I are settling into a new life together, just like our shirts are settling into the puckers and seams of this quilt. I feel great to be back "on the job" and in the "real world", and New York just feels a little more exporable and enjoyable. Got a haircut, FINALLY, after sporting the "graduate student" ratty pony tail for way way too long. Here's to the end of a super relaxing and gorgeous New York weekend - now I'm off to make shrimp and pasta (I add finely sliced shallots to the shrimp while baking) with Tim for dinner.
I just stumbled upon quilter Rita Correia's tumblr, and it is my new favorite website to compulsively check for updates every time I'm on the internet. It's becoming an obsession... a bad one. You know, the distracting you from work and sucking up all your minutes of free time kind of obsession. Sorry if me sharing this link with you makes this some sort of contagious unhealthy obsessive behavior. Actually, no, please join me in my adoration of this fabulous resource so I can feel a little less crazy!
In honor of workspace Wednesday, a little shot of my piecing stacks. I've got to be tidy in a small space. I do my piecing, cutting and ironing on the handy little fold up ironing/cutting mat. I cut my small pieces in batches then use them up, and cut another round of each color.
Tim accidentally broke my quilting hoop, so all hand quilting is on standby until further notice. Instead, I've been starting new quilts. This is the first "melon" of a double wedding ring quilt I've been planning for a few weeks. I'm trying to mix up the "background" or the large pieces between the "rings". Stay tuned, it might get a little wild.
